Sorry, I forgot to post this one:

Hey Everyone,

David, Grandpa, Grandma, Heidi and Mom I got your letters and mom I got the package so thank you. David, Heidi and Mom I sent you letters so hope you get them soon. I also sent pictures from the MTC and some of NJ. Grandpa it's nice to hear that things are good and that South Carolina went well. I am happy Grandma Sanders is doing well. Samantha it was nice to get an E-mail from you and I bet you are busy with school. That is always normal. It's nice to hear how things are going back home and that everything is well. Mom I loved the cookies. Tell the girls thanks for me. Thanks for Keeping me in your prayers. Things here are weird. You go from being so down to feeling like you are on top of the world. I have seen so many great things happening here and it's amazing. I am so happy right now and love doing this work. I am having such a great time. I have so many stories I can tell about things going on here with my mission but don't have the time. I can really feel all the prayers. I can feel them as I go out and work. I am meeting lots of great people. I hate being in a Spanglish area. English/ Spanish because in the Spanish lessons I have no clue what is going on and am so bored and most of the time fall asleep. Food here is amazing. It's crazy you can find places to eat from all over the world. We had a fire side yesterday, and it was amazing. New converts spoke and shared their testimony and the spirit was so strong. It's amazing to see the lives of these people change from hearing two 19-21 year olds teach them. It's also crazy to see the changes in my life from being on a mission. I have learned so many great things already. It's weird to know I have been on a mission for a month now and now down to 23 months left. Doesn't seem like it's been that long already. I am starting to fall in love with this work. It's been a month and I have 23 left but already not wanting to come home anymore and only know that is going to get worse when it's time to come home and take that name tag off and it's the last thing that I want to do. It's hard to leave this behind. The hardest part is changing your life style. Once you are willing to give up everything then the mission becomes super easy. Well I love and miss you all. Things are going great for me. Heidi if you can send me some sweats to work out in would be nice since it's getting cold and find my gloves. I don't know why but corn nuts and sun flower seeds sound really good and if I could get some of them. Also if you could look for some boots for me. We have cars all over my mission and if we want a GPS we have to buy one. My companion right now has one but when he leaves I won't have a GPS so if we could look for one and get one for a good deal that would be nice also. If there is anything else I can think of I will let you know but that is all for now. Almost all areas of my mission have cars. Only 4 areas walk or bike. So that's all. Well I have to go and I love and miss you all. I hope everything stays well and will see you all in 23 months, when you come get me you will love it out here. O a little history: Hindenberg that flew over the ocean or something is from Flemington the town I live in and the Flemington Court house is famous from some case they had and the union city hotel is famous from that case. If you want to know more history and stuff, because I don't even know all the history around me, look up Flemington NJ and Clinton NJ. That is where I live and the area I am in. Well I will talk to you all later and hope to hear from you all soon. O and what's the blog address for my mission.

Hey Everyone,

Michael, David, Samantha, Amy and Kate Happy Birthday! I am sorry it's late. Well, I have made it through my first transfer. Tomorrow I am getting a new companion because my companion is being transferred. I will be staying in Clinton South. Nothing really new is going on here. The work isn't going as well as it was. We haven't been able to see our investigators for many reasons, so that is kind of bad. But I got to go to East Brunswick for Zone Conference and had a great time. I hope I get to serve in New/East Brunswick. I love it there. Yesterday, I went to Union City and got to go to a fireside. It was hard because it was all in Spanish and I didn't understand anything. but it was cool because I was able to see New York City. I have never been that close to NY before and want to go there so bad. A missionary serving in Bayonne told me about this place called Pizza Masters and that they have the best pizza in NJ. I am sorry, I really don't have much to talk about because there hasn't been really anything that has gone on. I am doing well and things are going good other then being sick all the time and I had an ingrown toe nail removed. Well I love and miss you all. Hope everything is well.

Mission Thoughts

Tyler's last email was only for the family. He had a difficult week so any letters and prayers for him would be much appreciated.
Let me share some personal thoughts regarding missionary service. My personal opinion is that everyone should serve a mission, women if the opportunity is there. A mission is a time of spirtual growth that cannot be gained in any other way. It is extremely difficult, primarily the first six months, when a missionary begins having feelings of unworthiness, fear of failure, homesickness, wondering if they can do it, pressure to make everybody proud, asking why the Lord chose them. Service in the work of the Lord requires humility and the beginning of a mission is the start of that process and letting go of all wordly appetites and passions and turning ones life over to the Lord. This is a time when missionaries are weakest and Satan seeks to discourage them.
Members faith through pray and encouragement can be of great benefit to missionaries. Also welcoming missionaries into members homes and feeding them can help turn a difficult day around. I would encourage all to not only support Tyler but all missionaries and take the opportunity to pray for them and invite them into your homes.
Thank you,
Heidi Sanders

Letter 10-10-10

Dear Everyone,
Thank you so much for the package. The GPS is nice. Thank for everything else that was added. You are all welcome fo the letters and pictures. Heidi, I miss good food to eat but love living on my own. I don't miss the hugs and kisses at all. Blessing of not living at home! Michael, thanks for the card. I love your letter. I get lots of strength from reading it. Your mission president was right aout working harder. Sorry to hear about Kate. It's hard but always remember the Plan of Salvation. Sounds like things are well.
I am mad about the Disney trip. I hope it's not a good trip. Just kidding. Have fun and we will go in two years. Miss you, Sabrina, and Madison. Mom, I am happy, everything is well. Sounds like you are all busy. Thanks for everything and for the recipes. Oma, thanks for the card. You are the best. David, that book was kind of neat but I can't read that stuff on my mission. Love and miss you all. I am doing very well.
Anyone who wants can start to send letters to me at 62 Park Ave. #1 Flemington, NJ 08822. I will send an email when that changes. This week everything fell through. Not the best week. On Tuesday I had zone meeting and went to Princeton. Ate at On the Boarder. I went on an exchange with Elder Bair, one of my zone leaders. It was really good. We knocked on a door and this guy answered and was looking at me weird. He told us he is gay. I was scared for my life.
It's rained a lot this week. Thursday, went out to dinner with the other Elders. Friday went to lunch with a member to Max's. Found an Italian bakery and two candy places called Candy Bar and the other is Fudge Shoppe. Elder Cardoso did a baptism interview for two sisters as we talked. Sister Cornish is in my district. How funny is that? Saturday, Elder Cardoso and I went to the Stake Center in Morristown. They had a Spanish party there and I got to eat food from all over Mexico, Central, and South America. That was fun. Also got ice-cream at Grouchowicks! That's about all that happened this week. Love and miss you all.

Mon 10/4/2010 9:06 AM "Mission"

Hey Everyone,

I am sorry that it takes so long for me to write back to the letters you all send me. I can only write on Mondays because that is my P-Day. I have been getting the letters and the packages. Don't worry. I am trying to write back as soon as I can. David, I am amazed MV won a game; That is amazing. I am not suprized BYU isn't doing good at all. I love all the letters you send. It makes me want to do better because I don't look at myself as amazing and great as you make me out to be and I never knew I was that kind of an example to all of you. Heidi if you could go to Deseret Book and go to the missionary section and get me some of the books they have for missionaries learning spanish and send them to me and go in my room and get me my spanish Book of Mormon, that is in the storage next to my night stand and send that also would be nice. I don't know if I would need a full spanish set of scriptures or not? Being in a Spanish area I am trying to learn Spanish and my companion is trying to help me so I can be more of a help in teaching lessons and not so bored. So if you can do that I would be happy. Other then that I don't really need anything.

I haven't really said much about what has been going on here with the work so I will share some of my stories. I went and knocked some doors a few weeks ago and found a guy who is a huge drinker and really wants to change his life. We are meeting with him and he is so excited about the church and loved the Book of Mormon after we just read one scripture from it and asked for a copy. Today we are going to set him with a baptism date. I am so excited. Last week there was a guy we were supposed to see on Wednesday but we stopped by on Tuesday to cheek on him and he said he was busy on Wednesday and was going to call and tell us not to come back to see him anymore but because we stopped by is going to let us still come back. We got a referral from a member of this lady who has cancer and that wanted to learn about the Church so we are going to see her today and teach her and excited to see what happens with her. So things are going great in my area. There are a lot of other people we are teaching that are great people. Ok funny story - my first day in the area we came across this lady and started talking to her. She said she had read the Book of Mormon before so we were like that is so great. Well she then tells us that she believes that everything is a thought and that our body is a thought to keep us from god. She is crazy. and she said that we are always with God. I thought wow I hope all people in NJ are not this weird or this is going to be the longest two years of my life. But I love the people here and that is kind of what has been going on here. I loved conference this weekend. It was so good. it's amazing how much better it is as a missionary and that it really applies to you. I loved Elder Nelsons talk. I want to say it was in priesthood about every member a missionary. I want to say how true that is. Members doing missionary work is a better way then us called missionaries. If the members find people and get them excited, then give them to the missionaries, we see so many things happen with those people and it really is the best way to do missionary work. It's not possible to do without the members. You might not be called as a missionary but it's your job as much as it is every missionaries to do this work. This work is the best thing anyone can ever do and brings so much joy. All it takes is the faith to open our mouths. Missionary work really does change your life for the best. I have learned so much that I need to know to make it through life by doing this great work. I want to share my testimony in Spanish then I will say it in English. Se que Jose Smith es un profeta Y Se que El Libro De Mormon es verdadero Y Se que esto es verdadal sentir el Esiritu santo. I said I know Joseph Smith is a prophet and I know the Book of Mormon is true and I know this is true from feeling the Holy Ghost. I hope everything continues to go good back at home and everything is well. I love and miss you all.
